Zoo Parenting

I was…a zoo parent.

San Francisco has an Adopt-an-Animal Program. This program is used to support the San Francisco Zoological Society and further their mission to connect people to wildlife, inspire caring for nature and advance conservation action.

I adopted a giraffe at basic level. I got a certificate of adoption and a fun fact sheet. I have given this as a gift to family members. In the past my adoption entitled me to attend annual zoo parent day. On this day we get to go on a behind the scene tour.  One time I got to feed a giraffe. Another time I fed a potato to a rhino. And while there it is fun to ride on the little puffer miniature steam train and Dentzel historical carousel.

Quotes on zoo:

•“I got access to a private tour of the zoo. I got to go in a cage with a koala, which I highly recommend.” – Todd Barry

•“I like to do chill things on dates. I think it would be fun to go to the zoo. I know it’s really weird and random, but I love animals. It’d be like a day of doing silly things, while enjoying nature.” – Ashlee Simpson

•“I love acting, but it’s much more fun taking the kids to the zoo.” – Nicole Kidman

•“People go to the zoo and they like the lion because it’s scary. And the bear because it’s intense, but the monkey makes people laugh.” – Lorne Michaels

•“I’ve actually gone to the zoo and had monkeys shout to me from their cages, “I’m in here when you’re walking around like that?”” – Robin Williams
