Risk Taking

I am…a risk taker, Yes!

Some 27 years ago I started my own bookkeeping practice. My family thought I was a little crazy. I kept at it and still love working in the industry. Though today, I work with more not for profit organizations than small businesses or individuals. And the software has definitely evolved over the years.

I also founded the Peninsula Bookkeepers Association in 1989. There was no such organization on the San Francisco Peninsula. The group is still around. We now have quarterly instead of monthly meetings. Last month we had a gal from Bill.com speak to our group. Yet more evidence that software is changing in the arena of bookkeeping.

Then in 2004 I started a second business. I publish affirmation cards. It took a year to finish the first set. They are the “I am” affirmation cards. Then two years after that I created my second set. They are the “Letting Go” cards. Then 4 years go by and I have android apps for each set of cards. I am currently creating several more sets of cards. They include “Grieving” cards, “Forgiveness” cards, “I choose” cards and cards to support our chakras. I may not be as big as Hay House but I love the feedback from end users on how the cards support their lives.

“Often the difference between a successful person and a failure is not one has better abilities or ideas, but the courage that one has to bet on one’s ideas, to take a calculated risk – and to act.” – Andre Malraux
