I attended a charity fund raiser.
This one was to honor a San Mateo County Board of Supervisors member Rose Jacobs Gibson. Proceeds from the dinner will benefit “the
Centre” of Redwood City. The Centre is a facility whose purpose is to provide a continuum of care that will support people who want to change their lives. The event was held at the Centre. Participants in the Centre program prepared all the food. It was delicious which is unusual for banquet food.
Supervisor Jacobs Gibson initiated the Re-Entry subcommittee to help create a more holistic approach at addressing the needs of the formerly incarcerated such as housing, employment, and drug and alcohol treatment and mental health services. The Centre is a place that addresses those needs. It is no surprise that Rose Jacob Gibson would like having her event support the Centre and her friend Shirley LaMarr (Mz Shirliz) the Executive Director.
