Loma Prieta Earthquake Anniversary

Oct 17th was the 23rd anniversary of the Loma Prieta earthquake 7.1 magnitude.  I had my office and was working on the 6th floor of a building in San Mateo California. There weren’t too many people still up there. So we head to a stairway to walk down and discover it is completely dark. I only had a tiny flashlight with me. We went around to the other staircase and luckily it had emergency lights. I led us down the stairs. We had to walk all the way to the basement through the basement and up another staircase to exit the building. I got in my truck and drove home which was less than 2 miles away. It took awhile but nothing that was memorable. I feel very fortunate that I didn’t find any broken items when I got home. And I now carry a bigger flashlight in my purse.

So where were you at 5:04pm on Oct 17, 1989?
