National Book Lovers Day

I am…a book lover.

Book Lovers Day encourages you to find a place in the shade to relax with a good book.

Book reading is a great hobby. It’s an important one, too. Employers look for it on resumes. Reading is educational, informative, and relaxing. It makes us both smarter and happier people.

Here is a suggested way to celebrate. Just grab an interesting book, find a quiet, cozy place, and crack open the cover or turn on your kindle. Celebrating Book Lovers Day in August is pleasurable on the deck, under a shady tree, poolside, or in a cozy hammock. I personally have a nice deck to sit on and read.

Yesterday I got a copy of Frank Nissen’s just published book Fortune’s Call. A Gold Rush Odyssey. I am excited to start reading.

Quote on book:
“All good and true book-lovers practice the pleasing and improving avocation of reading in bed … No book can be appreciated until it has been slept with and dreamed over.” – Eugene Field

“The whole world opened to me when I learned to read.”
―Mary McLeod Bethune

“I love the solitude of reading. I love the deep dive into someone else’s story, the delicious ache of a last page.”
―Naomi Shihab Nye
